Catchment School for Kingsclere

Traditional values with forward looking expectations
This popular secondary school is set in delightful grounds in the village of Burghclere, seven miles to the north-west of Kingsclere. With only 712 pupils, it is a small school by national standards and this means that all pupils are known individually by staff and can be guided and supported effectively. The small size also encourages an amazing community spirit where every pupil feels he/she belongs and can contribute. Progress is rigorously monitored to ensure that each pupil achieves their potential.

High academic achievement
Results at The Clere are excellent with pupils of all abilities achieving outstanding value-added scores. In the summer of 2006, 65% of pupils achieved 5 A*-C passes at GCSE – a 7% increase on the previous year. KS3 results are above national averages.

Outstanding care, guidance and support
Ofsted inspectors in May 2006 praised The Clere for the personal development of its pupils and for the care, guidance and support it provides. Pupils behave and achieve well.

A happy school with opportunities and challenges
Pupils enjoy the wide range of opportunities available to them in sport, music, drama, travel and other challenges. Pupils are encouraged to be independent and to take on responsibilities in order to prepare them for future careers and adult life.
