The
Royal Observer Corps,
Kingsclere
Post
Many
people will not be aware that the Royal Observer Corps had its
origins as far back as the 1920s. The Kingsclere Post was established
on the Dell Recreation Ground in 1935 and for other than a couple
of years just after the Second World
War was operational until 1968.
Ex
Woman Observer Ann Rutherford, formerly of Headley, served there as
a full-time member towards the end of the war and for a number
of years
thereafter. There were two other full-time members and the rest were
part time. Ann
has kindly written an account of the Kingsclere ROC post
